Several days ago, Asiacell subscribers have received some suspicious SMSs, informing them that they had won prizes and encouraging them to call a specific number.

The source of these SMSs are a few websites on the Internet outside Iraq that they intend to cheat subscribers and steal their credit balance. Therefore, Asiacell calls upon its subscribers to ignore those SMSs and not to attempt at all to contact the numbers mentioned in them.

Regarding this issue, Abdullah Hassan, Asiacell’s Media and Public Relations Manager said, “With the delivery of those messages, Asiacell will, as an immediate measure, find those sources and stop them; confirming that some of them have already been stopped so far”.

He added that Asiacell will soon operate an advanced Anti-Spam system to eliminate those messages that reach Asiacell subscribers. This problem is not to do with Asiacell only, many mobile operators in most parts of the world has the same problem. Besides, there are many companies that use advanced technologies to cheat people in many countries of the world.
